The ACPC Spring Board Meeting took place on March 20-21 at the Kingsley Inn near Orchard Lake, Michigan. Under discussion were changes to the ACPC Constitution to be presented at the Convention, a number of publishing projects, and a report by Cecilia and Ray Glembocki on the successful National Conference for the Social Studies (NCSS) in Boston. Copies of the latest color issue of Polish Heritage were distributed. ACPC Spring Board Meeting - March 20-21, 2015
Reports were given and voting took place on the awards to be presented this year. On Saturday, host Marcin Chumiecki, Director of the Polish Mission of the Orchard Lake Schools, took the board members on a tour of the Polish Archives. They were able to admire the restored Polish Panorama - a sequence of moving historical figures. This was followed by a special mass in commemoration of the life of St. John Paul II, on the 10th anniversary of his passing, at the Our Lady of Orchard Lake Shrine Chapel.
Afterwards, all went to the Galeria for a short piano concert presented by Jaroslaw Golembiowski. Those assembled were also treated to a film Missa Cracoviensis by Jerzy Jogalla from 1979. This is the very first documentary made about John Paul II in Poland. Filmed by hand-held cameras during public events and having no sound, it was given a thematic score by Marek Wilczynski. The powerful images of a young and vigorous John Paul II in his native country spoke for themselves.
