37th Adam Styka Art Show and Saleat the National Shrine of our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA

..... On Sunday, August 30 was the official opening of the 37th Adam Styka Art Exhibit and Sale at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA. Thirty-two artists participated, each was allowed three paintings, graphics or mixed-media entries. The exhibit was organized by the Polish Heritage Club of Philadelphia (PHSP) with support from the American Council for Polish Culture (ACPC).
This year the PHSP gratefully acknowledges the Pauline Fathers of Our Lady of Czestochowa and especially Father Edward Volz, without whose help and support the exhibit would not have been possible.
Marie Hejnosz, president of PHSP, conducted the awards ceremony and introduced the following winners:
First Prize: Fred Place (for all three paintings)
Second Prize (ACPC Award): Jas Szygiel (for all three paintings)
Third Prize (ACPC Award): Marybeth Hucker "Apple Cluster"
Fourth Prize (Emilia Piasecka Award): Steve Zazencki "Night Shift"
Fifth Prize: Eugeniusz Maziarz "Duke's Park"
A special prize was funded by the Polski Uniwersytet Ludowy (Polish Peoples University - PUL) in Philadelphia and awarded to Daniel Troupe by Janusz Romanski PUL president.
Honorable mention was awarded to six individuals:
Joanne Cannon - "On the Way to Cape May"
Nina Hans - "Gold Fish"
Brian Oliver - (for all three paintings)
Zygmunt Sawosko - (for all three paintings)
Matthew Szczepanowski - "Sunrise"
Ewa Zeller - "Barbara"
The second and third prizes were sponsored by the ACPC and were presented by PHSP President Marie Hejnosz.
Guests at the reception enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and wine as they chatted with the artists and admired the display. The exhibit will be open 11 am to 5 pm during the days of the Shrine Festival -- Labor Day weekend Sept. 5-7 , and the following weekend Sept. 12-13, 2015.
